Hello everyone!
As many of you know, I organized a school supplies drive to help children in Sri Lanka. After an extensive amount of planning and back and forth conversing with several people in Sri Lanka, I can now say that my project was successfully completed! With a lot of help from my friends and family, I was able to help 63 kids at a primary school in Dimbulagala, Sri Lanka. This school specifically rarely receives donations of any kind due to how far into Dimbulagala it is. It was a great opportunity to get to meet these kids and get a glimpse of what their lives are like and how their school is.
Thank you to all of those who donated to help these children. It was greatly appreciated not just by me but also the principal of the school, the staff, the parents and the kids. I am very proud to say that I was able to raise $1,454.19 in donation money which converts to Rs. 439,628.48! With that amount we were able to buy these kids school supplies, new backpacks, and also give them a slice of pizza and some Cream Soda. In addition to that we were able to buy fans for the classrooms, and some necessary items for the teachers.
There were several expenses that were made using the donation money. Here is a full list of the items that were purchased:

COMING UP:
As you can see, there was a remaining balance. While I was at the school, the principal mentioned that many people are afraid to drink the water in that area because it damages livers and kidneys. Due to this being a huge problem in their society, I have decided to start a new project in the upcoming year to help build a water filtering system to assist these kids and the people living in Dimbulagala.
Thank you again to all of those who donated and helped in any possible way. From donating to packing the supplies, there were several helping hands and I could not thank you all enough for all the support. Thank you again and keep a look out for the water project coming up!
